How to Collect Spurs’ Three Amigos Cards

Three Amigos means Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper—the Spurs young-core trio collectors actually want to chase together. It is a nickname for players, not Meltonia’s checklist product name. The product name is SPURS Checklist (Spurs Players Unified Rookie Sets) on the SPURS Checklist.

Step 0: Decide your Amigos scope

Pick one:

Write the scope on paper. Unwritten scopes become infinite carts.

Step 1: Open one Ladder Room at a time

A Ladder Room is one player × one year × one set design × one card number across parallels. Examples of scope language:

  • “Castle 2024-25 Prizm base design #X — color + numbered ladder”
  • “Harper Topps Chrome design year — refractor ladder only”
  • “Wemby Select Courtside #Y — tier-locked ladder”

Do not open Prizm + Optic + Mosaic + Mercury on day one. Finish or formally Not-Chase before expanding.

Step 2: Mark Own / Need / Watching / Not Chasing

On the SPURS Checklist:

Step 4: Separate raw and graded boards if needed

Step 5: Monthly Amigos review

Once a month:

  1. 1. Update Owns from arrivals
  2. 2. Refresh sold comps for open Needs (you research; we invent nothing)
  3. 3. Cut Needs that broke the budget into Watching/Not Chasing
  4. 4. Only then consider a second set family

  • Treating national “Area 51 / Big 3” hype as a shopping list
  • Mixing insert rainbows into base boards
  • Counting stock photos as Own
  • Chasing every Amigo product week simultaneously
  • Ignoring serial denominators on numbered rungs

Budget without invented numbers

  • Allocate it to capped Needs only
  • If comps for a Need exceed the remaining budget, move to Watching—do not silently expand the budget mid-month

Display and storage habits that protect the chase

Raw Amigos chrome belongs in sleeves and top loaders (or equivalent) before binder pages. Graded slabs still hate drops and hot cars. San Antonio heat is not a storage plan. Label toploaders with set/parallel notes so Own updates take minutes, not archaeology.

Team culture without mythology overload

You can love Spurs basketball and still collect like an adult: fewer unfinished boards, more exact-item fills, less screenshot envy. Three Amigos collecting is a long season. Pace it like one.

Exact-item week ritual

Once a week, open Meltonia player collections and search only your Need strings (set + parallel + number). If listed, compare photos slowly. If not listed, do not invent a substitute parallel just to click buy. Substitutes create second ladders by accident.

Same ritual applies on marketplaces—with stricter cert and seller checks.
